Divine dreams are prophetic dreams that are from God. Divine means “of God”. So these specific kinds of dreams take place when God speaks to us through His dream language to bring our attention to something. Oftentimes, dreamers are perplexed by their dreams and pause at attempting to figure out what they were looking at in the spiritual realm. Things are not always as they appear and while we ponder the frequent phenomenon of our dreams, there are things we can do to bring clarity and assist us in the process of waiting on God for accurate dream revelation.
Prophetic dreams are definitely a gift from God but it doesn't occur to most people that like most other things dreams require action items. Yes, there are things that we are actually supposed to do when we have prophetic dreams. It's not always clear what we should do, especially if we are unclear about the meaning of a dream. But without knowing, there are still some basic action items that we should all put into practice regardless of whether we know the revelation of the dream sooner or later. So here are a few action items we should make a part of our normal regimen as dreamers.
The first action item is documentation.
Writing down and dating dreams is an act of obedience to God, as mentioned in God’s word where it states:
“Then the Lord answered me and said:“Write the vision and make it plain on tablets,That he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; 3)But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.Though it tarries, wait for it;Because it will surely come,It will not tarry.”Habakkuk 2:2-3 (KJV)
Furthermore, having a record of your dreams provides proof, receipts, and credibility that God spoke to you in a dream ahead of time. Think of it like when you are in the court of law and you are required to meet your burden of proof. In any case in order to win, you are required to provide written and or recorded documentation & visual aids. The purpose of this is to validate and corroborate the spoken word. God speaks to us through our dreams and in order to become more familiar with His dream language, we need to see it in writing. When we write it out and document it, this puts us in a position of obedience to God's commandment to allow dreams to be activated, revealed, then manifested from the spiritual world to the natural realm.
The second action item is prayer.
There are two components to consider when praying regarding a dream. First pray for clarity and revelation to receive interpretation from the Holy Spirit with the understanding that dreams reveal our blind spots and provide spiritual insight to things we wouldn’t otherwise be aware of in the natural realm. It’s not always clear what type of dream we’ve experienced or what God is telling us. “We see in part and know (or prophesy) in part.” 1 Corinthians 13:12 (KJV)
Secondly, if the dream scenario contains warning signs of someone's life being in jeopardy or someone being harmed and or endangered in any way, the dreamer will need to cover themselves and loved ones with the blood of Jesus for protection. Then depending on the nature and severity of the dream, take authority over the spirit of premature death. This may require a more intense level of praying which is intercession. Intercession involves your heavenly language ( speaking in tongues) and standing in the gap regarding a situation until you have a spiritual breakthrough.
The third action item is sharing the dream.
Or not. Depending on the nature of the dream and who the dream involves, the Lord may not release you to actually share the dream with the individual. Sometimes the dream scenario exposes situations in people's lives that are of a sensitive nature, they may be unaware of, or they are hiding a plight they aren’t proud of. This in no way excuses the dreamer from praying about the dream. That should always be your default action item. Additionally, in some cases, people are not able to share a dream with a person because they either do not have a personal relationship with them or they do not have access to that individual. Or it could just be awkward and uncomfortable for everyone.
Whatever the case may be, there is no distance in the spirit and prayers can always reach where we may not be able to. Another reason that the Lord may not release us to share some of our dreams with people is because many people do not understand the gift of dreaming and oftentimes dreamers are attacked as when people shoot the messenger. Dreamers can come under attack by people that dismiss and reject the dream. In essence, they are rejecting the dreamer and the voice of God that was speaking to them through His dream language.
In some extenuating circumstances, it may be necessary to warn an individual. So proceed with caution. In some past experiences, the Lord has led me to inform the mother of the person I was dreaming about because I knew the mother respected my gift, was a prophetic dreamer herself and that she would pray for her children.
Other times, it became necessary to reach out by phone and reconnect because of the type of dream I experienced. In times past, the Holy Spirit has prompted me to pick up the phone to call or text a person I had been out of communication with in order to reconcile a relationship and bring healing. Again, whatever your dream scenario is, always consult God for permission first, and make sure He has given you clearance and a release as to whether or not you are to disclose your dream to anyone. Sometimes God gives us dreams because He trusts us and knows we are going to be obedient by documenting the dream, and praying about the situation as He leads and instructs us to take action through divine wisdom.
Remember, Hearing God Through Our Divine Dreams calls us to action. So listen closely to discern what God is trying to reveal to you. The purpose and end result of your action item could involve warning an individual, helping someone make an informed decision, bringing hope, mending a broken relationship or saving a life!
